Rushing around the shops, filling out all those cards, did I get that must have present for my niece? Oh and there's the office party, that's tonight and there's Pam's party tomorrow as well, oh and what about Uncle Sid what time's his train arriving. .. and I haven't even got the Christmas dinner yet! Sounds familiar? Once upon a time Christmas and the New Year was a less complicated affaire, we ate some nice things, put up some nice decorations and enjoyed a pleasant time with friends and family. Yet now the pressure is so on us to get and do everything that is required, and the build up is just so intense, that by the time we get back to normality in January we are more tired than before! Yet this period of time is meant to be called the: Holiday Season! Why not instead take a break out of the usual routine and have a moment away from the rush and bustle? Spend some time with your loved ones and experience something completely different? Come Hide away with us for Christmas and the New Year or for either one of the weeks. Christmas week: Saturday to Saturday New Years week: Saturday to Saturday Fly into Nice, Marseille or Nimes Hire a car and come up to the calm of La Colle. You will find that we have completely prepared the gîte for you, decorated it in the festive seasonal style, the Christmas tree is already installed in the corner, lights twinkling. A chilled bottle of Champaign awaiting your arrive. The fridge already stocked with French seasonal delicacies to start you off on the weeks feast.
Wake up the next morning and discover this little paradise tucked away deep in the Provencial countryside. Although we can not promise snow, as explained in our winter description pages. We can promise a completely different world than the one you know. Yet we may be lucky and you could be met by this.
If you are worried about whether you can get up there, we have two 4 x 4's available at La Colle and one tractor. Anyway it's more likely to be like the photo below. In the event that there is snow, like this, we would arrange to have your car stationed in the village and take you to it when you want, the village is about 10 mins away.
In France we celebrate Christmas on the 24th December (Christmas Eve) usually a full meal that lasts late into the night. Somehow Father Christmas manages to slip down the chimney early in the morning of the 25th and the presents just happen to appear for breakfast. Whether you wish to celebrate it like this or the more traditional 25th is of course your choice. New Years Eve is celebrated in a similar manner with lush delicacies, Champaign and fine wines. This year is the first time we have offered this special Christmas and New Year break. However you should know that gîte Galileo has already received for three consecutive years the top award voted by our guests of 5 Globes by World One Call, a major private accommodation booking company. For two of the years we have received an extra "commended" to polish higher the 5 Globe rating. There is by the way no 6 Globes otherwise we might have got it as well. I believe that we have received these accolades because we understand how important your holidays are and our efforts are directed at making sure that you have a wonderful new experience and return content. You will come to an area that is completely different from what you know. It is true that La Colle is not the place for everyone and we may have at least one family that comes here a year that it doesn't quite suit. But what counts is the 98% that are fully satisfied and are willing to let organizations like World One Call know. This coupled with the fact that every year we have an increase in the number of past guests wishing to re-visit and stay with us also underlines what we offer.
