In both cases we can provide you with the ideal place for a short stay of up to 12 weeks at a very economical winter rate and which includes all facilities and comfort. You only need to bring some personal possessions and you could start looking for your dream property or start creating right away.

We have already explained in our Winter presentation pages about what it is like to live in Provence in the winter. But if you need a hide away or a base from which to explore, the winter in fact is one of the best times of the year to do it.

Firstly you can profit from our dry sunny winter climate, secondly the main holiday letting season is at it's low point and therefore you can profit from the reduced weekly rates and even benefit from short term special rates.

The house buyer: (Click here if you are a creative) If you are looking for a holiday home in Provence or equally a second or permanent home. You should know that you will need to explore and prepare before you buy. Only the brave will search the small ads and then fly in to inspect and buy.

Some people are lucky enough to have friends within a region who will help them, others take many years exploring a place during the holiday season looking to buy. 

Before we bought our property we lived in the area and then decided to look to buy. It is important that you gain a living experience and test out your personal adaptation to the area. If you only look at a place when it's showing it's best side, then you might find that you become disappointed latter on.

In fact the best time to see a place is in the winter, by seeing a potential home out of season you can look for important points like; whether it gets any winter sun,  whether it gets damp (some places are very damp in the winter because of there position). Also you can explore at leisure and find out about what the area is really like. Is the area completely closed out of season? What facilities are open all year? Some places are made up of mainly second homes that are locked up for most of the year. 

In brief you need to sample the living experience out of season!

Creative Hide away: We have already mentioned that this area of Provence is a well established area for artists and creators. However not everyone wants to buy a second property, or rent for a year just to have access to the creative spirit of the area. 

You may have a particular project that you want to do, one that's been at the back of your mind for some time. Or maybe you just need the facility of being able to concentrate on a particular project away form the hustle and bustle of your currant environment.

Here we can offer you just that. La Colle has a long association with the creative forces. The old owner was an accomplished; painter, writer and poet. I have worked with the commercial creative arts for over 20 years. Our Dutch neighbour is an inventor and also an accomplished computer specialist, our other neighbour is a German Painter. 

A short walk to another neighbour and and you will find out that they are commercial artists who specialise in artwork for wine labels. Their house was owned before them by a Belgium painter and before her by a French Film director.

All these people came here because of the peace, tranquillity, sun, nature and off course the uniqueness of Provence. It is something to do with the blending of all these elements that lets us develop our creative talents.

You too could join us for a while and let your talents run wild.

The winter season: Commences the 2nd week of January till the last week of March. In both cases starting and ending on a Saturday. This period spans 12 weeks. 

The all in price for a 4 week period, is 1000€. That's only 250€ per week! We will accept a minimum rental period of 3 weeks at this rate. i.e. 250€ per week x 3 = 750€. If you wish you can book the entire 12 week period, however no further discounts will be made.

30% of the total period reserved is payable in advance and the balance of each 3 week period is payable by the beginning of each period. i.e. On arrival and before the beginning of the next 3 weeks etc.

This rate includes, water, electricity and central heating and includes the full use of our well equipped gîte. A deposit of 380€ is required in addition. This deposit will be set against any possible damages and is fully repayable on departure, less any damages or excessive usage charges (see below).

A telephone line is already installed in the gîte, however you would have to connect it for your personal use if required for your stay and at your own cost.

The water, electricity and central heating supplied as part of this special rate is calculated on normal usage to a standard usage formula. If you excessively exceed the normal usage rates the extra will be charged to you at the end of your stay.

Unfortunately we must state this because a previous guest had decided to leave the radiators on at maximum and then leave the windows and doors open all day. In addition he had also decided to leave all the lights on all the time. This we regard as excessive use of the facilities that we provide. 

We have now been able to establish what normal usage is. This has been able to be calculated by the number of different guests who have stayed with us. It is therefore a very simple calculation.

Not more than 3m3 of water per week for the gîte ( We are in the country and water is a valuable asset), not more than a total consumption of 40 litres of fuel per day (280 litres per week) for the entire property (including ourselves) and not more than X kilowatt hours per week.

Providing that these figures remain about these points you will not be charged for the use of these facilities.

Gîte Galileo has already received for three consecutive years the top award voted by our guests of 5 Globes by World One Call, a major private accommodation booking company. For two of the years we have received an extra "commended" to polish higher the 5 Globe rating. There is by the way no 6 Globes otherwise we might have got it as well.

I believe that we have received these accolades because we understand how important your holidays are and our efforts are directed at making sure that you have a wonderful new experience and return content. You will come to an area that is completely different from what you know.

It is true that La Colle is not the place for everyone and we may have at least one family that comes here a year that it doesn't quite suit.  But what counts is the 98% that are fully satisfied and are willing to let organizations like World One Call know. This coupled with the fact that every year we have an increase in the number of past guests wishing to re-visit and stay with us also underlines what we offer.
